The following instructions can help you configure mIRC for use on the ADC Chat Server. Before you begin, make sure you have already installed mIRC onto your computer. These instructions were written for people using Windows 98 and the 32-bit version of mIRC. However, people using Windows 95, Windows 3.1 and/or the 16-bit version of mIRC can still use them. For more information about mIRC, visit their web site at www.mirc.com.

 

1. Connect to the Internet, if you are not already connected. (Note: The method for connecting to the Internet may differ from the picture below, depending upon which Internet Service Provider you use.)

2. Load mIRC by clicking on the Windows 98 Start button. Move your mouse cursor over Programs, mIRC, and click on the mIRC32 program icon.

3. The About mIRC window will appear. Close this window by clicking the X in the top-right corner.

4. The mIRC Options window will appear. Type your Full Name, E-Mail Address, Nickname, and Alternative (nickname) in the boxes provided. Click the Add button when you are finished.

5. The mIRC Add Server window will appear. Type the following information in the boxes provided and click the Add button when you are finished.

IRC Server: irc.after-death.com
Port(s): 7000

6. The mIRC Options window will appear (again). The drop-down menu should display "ADC Chat Server", and all four boxes should be filled with your information. Click on the Connect to IRC server! button. This will connect you to the ADC Chat Server.

7. Once you are connected, the mIRC Channels Folder will appear. Close this window by clicking the X in the top-right corner.

8. At the bottom of the Status window, type /LIST and press the Enter key.

9. A list of all the chat rooms will appear in a new window. Double-click the room you wish to join.

10. The chat room window will appear, which will be divided into two sections. The left side will display the chat dialogue, and the right side will list all the people currently in the room. Type your messages at the bottom of the window, and press the Enter key to send.
