It is indeed a process and journey. What broke my heart was when she came by the house and said she didn't know who to talk about it or how she was "supposed to react". At the time, my mouth dropped open and all said was, "If you want to cry, cry. If you just want to be by yourself, do it." (She'd been very withdrawn with people.) Her immediate family doesn't know how to deal with death....so she chose to shut down.
