I remember you! It is good to see your name on the board and also hear about your awesome ADC.
I am going on 9 years now and know the lulls can be frustrating. But you are right, sooner or later they always resume.
I think it is a lot like a distant radio station at night. Sometimes reception is clear, other times you can't pick it up at all. As you say, does no good to worry about it.
