Aaron, I have read that sometimes when someone close to you passes, their spirit is so connected with you that, even though you are not with that person at the time, their spirit and your spirit are in communication. This may be why you felt the jolt. I think this would be an adc, from your friend letting you know even though their transition has happened, they are still very close to you.
