I believe that if you never smelled that before, if her sweater has always been in the box and there was no fan in the closet, then chances are very high - nearly guaranteed - she paid you a visit! When did she transition? Also, please clarify, but did you say that although her lock of hair was boxed with the sweater, when you checked the closet you found her hair on top of the boxes, not with the sweater? Unless you put it there at some point and do not remember, that is a 100% proof she was there. Ask her for more signs! But remember, they sometimes have a tough time coming through, plus they do not "perform on command", lol
